Capstan Atlantic's Ultra Infiltrated Application
'We considered Ultra Infiltrant for ahigh precision gearing application used in an automotive window liftsystem. Weight control is critical in meeting the dimensionalrequirements of this application and no level of infiltrant residue isacceptable. The part also, in its as-infiltrated state, must pass atorque strength test to be suitable for use. Initial samples tested, met all requirements. We received our first 10,000 piece production lot ofthe Ultra Infiltrant rings and were quite impressed by the results of a capabilitystudy we performed on the weight of the UI rings. Against a tolerance range of 0.06grams (.47 - .53 grams), the CpK of the parts evaluated was 3.98 with a standarddeviation of less than 0.002 grams. Conclusion: A stronger, cleaner, moredimensionally stable part at a slightly lower cost, due to theelimination of the infiltrant assembly operation.'
